In this seminar, students will explore various language dialects (both standard and non-standard) with the objective of developing a more in-depth understanding of the relationship between language use and personal identity. Not only will we examine views on “right” and “wrong” language, but also how these views influence how we perceive others—a product of internalized socio-cultural biases.
